An annual or short-lived perennial with dense, dark green leaves and an upright branching habit reaching 70 to 100 cm high. Large buds open late in the season to reveal shiny, stiff bracts ranging in colour from white to pink and yellow surrounding a yellow centre. Can be lightly pruned back after flowering. Butterfly attractant. Great for drying.
