A fast growing upright perennial with dense dark green low foliage eventually followed by branching flowering stems up to 80 cm high each carrying as many as 5 scaly buds which open to reveal deep yellow flowers over many weeks late in the season. Grows best in full sun. In cultivation it is best regarded as an annual. Seems to grow well in most soil types including coastal dunes.
Germination period 8 to 15 days. Minimum contents 200 seeds
