Blue Lace Flower, Rottnest Daisy Trachymene coerulea
Synonym Didiscus coerulea
Growing to as much as 1.2 m high, this is no shrinking violet (and it’s not really a daisy either). Growth is dense and dark green at first but then towards the end of spring the main stem elongates and branches out carrying a flower bud on each tip. In early summer buds slowly open to reveal domes of delicate blue flowers, 3 to 4 cm across. Each plant can carry 20 or more flowers. Grows in most soils types including alkaline coastal soils. Prefers well drained soils and some light shade but will grow in full sun. Suitable for growing in a large pot or the garden.
Germination period 15-30 days.
Minimum contents 200 seeds
